So I promised you guys something good last week to make up for my absent. Well here it is. Christmas is fast approaching and I’m working on some cute stuff for a Christmas market I’m taking part in on 16 December at Prismare in my home town. I want to share with you a fun and easy Christmas gift idea.
Last summer I was browsing my (almost 15minute car ride) local IKEA and found these little nest boxes. As nice as they where I immediately knew I wanted to spruce them up to make them great. I put them away and never had any set plans for them until last week when I was brainstorming Christmas gift ideas.
What you will need:
Paint ( I used FolkArt antique gold metallic paint)
Paintbrush ( I prefer to use foam brushes for small projects like these)
I first started by painting my boxes. They needed two coats of paint. This doesn’t take long you just need to wait 1 hour in between coats when using FolkArt paints.
As you can see my boxes have these cut outs in the lids. I use the hart shape that came with the box as a template to cut out my scrapbook paper to size. Using my spray glue I glued the scrapbook paper to the inside of the lid so the design faces out. Now the only thing u need is to wait and let the glue dry completely before use.
Here you are from bland to glam in just a few hours.
I also bought some round shaped nesting boxes and did the same treatment on them. What do you think?
Thank you for visiting Brown Girl blog. See you next time.
