Today I want to share with you a very simple and fun before and after project.
I turned this ready made sign I bought at Action a while back for about Euro 2,99 from bland to dreamy. Let me show you the before.
As said I had this sign for a while now and I had it stashed away. With all the moving around of my craft supplies making room for RJ’s room it got damaged by some one (not naming names here :)) and needed to be patched up before I could get to work on it. Luckely it was nothing some woodglue and a night in clamps couldn’t cure.
What I used:
I had some crackle medium on hand so I thought I’d use that. If you are using a crackele medium please follow the instructions for the brand you are using for the best results. I gave the whole sign two coats of sterling blue for my base colour. Making sure to get the sides as well wich would stay this base colour and give the piece some depth.
After my base coat was dry I applied the crackle medium working in one direction only. After waiting a few hours I applied the top coat of dove gray. You don’t want to over work the topcoat. Do not go back over the same spot twice. This will interfear with the crackling! The only thing left was to watch the magic happen. Really it’s like magic this stuff I totally can not wait to use it again.
One down a few more to go. I’m working on getting a galary wall together but am still missing some pieces but getting there. I’m not going to be all done before the baby get’s here but that’s OK. The baby will have a cosy space to sleep anyway.
Till next time.
