Hello again friends,
Today I want to share our Christmas tree with you. Last year we bought our first artificial tree, you can see that post here, and we love it. The only thing we miss is of course the lovely smell of a real tree. We choose to go the artificial route because we wanted something more practical with small kiddos around. I made paper rosettes last year and I wanted to do something handmade this year also. I had this idea in my head for a few years and finally tried it out. We made clay ornaments for our tree this year. It’s a very easy craft project you can even include your kids in this. My 4 year old loved helping me out with the cooking cutters.
I found the air drying clay at one of my favourite craft material stores, Action one day and decided to try out making clay ornaments. I rolled out the clay on my baking mat using the rolling pin to about 1 cm thickness. When you have your clay slab just use the cookie cutters to cut out your ornaments. Repeat this step of the process until your clay is used up. I left my clay overnight to fully harden. I wanted to add some colour accents to the white clay. I used gold acrylic paint I already had. To get a crisp line I used my masking tape to tape off the part I wanted to paint. When your paint is all dried up cut a piece of bakers twine and hang your pretty handmade ornaments in your tree.
Have a great weekend. I’m off to do a Christmas market this afternoon.
Till next time.
