Welcome to the second instalment of Nelly’s List. A list of random stuff that I’m digging right now. From my favourite hand scrub to a book about weaving I got myself for Christmas to a charity that I support. Get to know me a little better through the stuff I dig.
1. On The Loom, A Modern Weavers Guide
I have been a fan of yarn wall hangings for a few years. I even wrote a love or leave blogpost about them. I’m still in love with them and wanted to finally start making them myself. So I bought Maryanne Moodie book On The Loom and I’m loving it. If you don’t know the work of Maryanne Moodie go check her out because it’s so good. Find her Instagram here.
2+3. Rituals Miracle Scrub and
I have pretty dry skin overall but in wintertime, it gets really bad. I’m usually good at taking care of my skin with heavy creams but my hands just get so beat up that I don’t know what to put on them to make it better. Well, now I do. My mom gifted my husband with a mini hand care set by Rituals for Christmas and I totally stole it from him. It had this Miracle Scrub and Ginkgo’s Secret Hand balm in it. My hands were so rough that I couldn’t unlock my phone with my fingerprint for a little while. This scrub really saved the day and got me through the winter. After using the scrub I put on the hand balm and that combination is gold. The Ginkgo’s Secret Hand Balm is sadly no longer available.
4. ZOA Foundation – Women’s projects in East Congo
I came in contact with the ZOA Foundation during one of our choir’s concerts. They are running a crowdfunding campaign to support women and girls in East Congo. They need to raise €10.000 to support 400 women and girls to get trauma counselling, a place in micro-credit groups, education or teach them a trade so they can start earning wages to support their families. These women and girls have been cast away by their families because most of them have been raped during the civil war. You can contribute as much or as little as you can. Together we can make a difference! For more information on this project and the ZOA Foundation please go here and to donate go here.
5. Buzzfeed Motion Pictures Worth It Series
You know Buzzfeed right?! I love them and their video productions. My new favourite is the Worth It series. In this series host, Steven Lim takes you on a journey to experience all kinds of stuff from food to lifestyle experiences at three drastically different price points. The first in the series is the $3,- sushi v $250,- sushi experience. O how I love food videos but these take it a step further and gives you a “taste” of the experience too. Steven is a funny dude too boot.
6. IKEA MÅTTEBY Wall template
This is genius! I was browsing IKEA’s posters and frames section online and found the MÅTTEBY Wall template. I never spotted it before and I haven’t used it yet but it’s on this list because I just dig it. There are 4 different collages in one set that of course includes all of the IKEA frames you’re used to. Cut a collage to fit your space and play around with and make it your own. Go here to check out a video by IKEA UK of how to use the MÅTTEBY.
