Last week I visited one of my favourite trade shows, ShowUp. I spotted a few new up and coming brands that I think you should know about too.

If you’ve been hanging around here for a while you might know that I’m a big tea drinker. My favourite kind of tea is herbal tea. So you can imagine how happy I was to discover this new tea brand. Lemon Poppy is the brainchild of Edvina Erebara, Albanian-born and now residing in Amsterdam. Edvina brought her beloved Çaj Mali, pronounced as ‘ts-jai mali (Albanian for mountain tea) to The Netherlands for us to enjoy. I tried the tea and I love it. It has a very mild taste and is organically farmed and harvested. The Çaj Mali comes in an eco-friendly and recyclable package with a lovely design.
Handmade copper jewellery using old copper pipes. Another great way to help our planet by reusing materials. I liked the simple elegance of By Biek designs. I’m a sucker for great packaging design and By Biek does not disappoint. They use recycled cardboard for their gift boxes and the felt pouches are all handmade. You can get your jewellery personalised in their webshop too.
On The Rocks
My love of paper goods is totally satisfied by the Rockbooks by On The Rocks. On The Rocks makes sustainable notebooks from rocks. Yep from rocks. Rockbooks are made out of waste from mines that are ground into dust and mixed with HDPE resin and transformed into paper. On The Rocks founder Anne Pleun Eijsden has a heart for conservation and an entrepreneurial spirit that she combines in this new venture. On The Rocks commit themselves to use at least 5% of their profits to support tree-planting projects. The stone paper is so very smooth and a joy to write on.
You might know Janneke Ursum as one-half of the sister duo behind De Krantenkapper. Janneke has now launched a handprinted wallpaper line under her own name. You can customise the colours of her designs to suit your needs. My favourite design is Travelers. You can find Janneke’s hand printed wall decor here.
